Bio


Stephen Cox has played electric bass since Spring 2000. He also plays the fretless and upright (double) bass. In his career, he has performed with Tommy Crain (Charlie Daniels/Crosstown Allstars), Barry Richman (guitar virtuoso), John McKnight (local drum legend), Sammy Blue, ZBRS, Manabu Saeki, and many other Atlanta artists. As a side man, Stephen has worked with Lefty Williams, Julie Gribble, Dean Dollar, Zaib Khan, Jeremiah and the Bullfrogs, and Nathan Morgan. He performs regularly with Snake Legs and The Eric Gant Trio. He primarily plays Blues, Classic Rock, Southern Rock, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Country. He also composes bass solos and acoustic folk/pop songs. Stephen can be heard on ZBRS's debut album: “Live, Raw, and Real.” He has recorded at Virtuo Sound Studios, SAE recording school in Atlanta, and Nuci Space in Athens, GA.

As an educator, Stephen teaches electric bass, guitar, and upright bass at Ponier Music in Marietta. He has made numerous instructional videos that can be seen at www.youtube.com/stephencoxbass. Stephen is currently a jazz bass major at Georgia State University, under the instruction of Robert Dickson. He has also studied under Joseph Patrick Moore (bassist for Earl Klugh and Colonel Bruce Hampton).
